“Who gets the accumulated preferred stock late dividend payments? The better preferred stocks are "cumulative". I understand that this means: I buy a few shares, say 100, on Jan 1st 2024 The company has liquidity issues and stops paying dividends as a result Say 1 year later, the company is again profitable It decides to start paying dividends again Now I get the 4 (assuming quarterly) missed payments on Jan 1st 2025 That's how that works, correct? However, maybe I get tired of waiting after two ”

“Buy-and-hold investors: how do you track gains excluding DRIP? Any CSV/Python workaround? I’m a buy-and-hold investor in VTI. I invest about $1k–$2k monthly and have DRIP enabled. I’ve been doing this for ~3–4 years. Fidelity shows a gain (~$61k), but that includes reinvested dividends. What I want is the true gain based only on my manual contributions, excluding DRIP purchases. To my knowledge, Fidelity doesn't have an option for this. I wanted to check with community on how do you calculate ga”

“What sensible/viable alternative investment strategies are there? Disclaimer upfront, I am not looking for financial advice, just ideas/brainstorming. I, like I'm sure many here, have some investments in index funds (and not even counting pensions etc for now). I'm sure a lot of people are keeping track of what is happening with the SpaceX IPO, and how they are essentially forcing themselves into the indexes. There is a widely held belief that this is tantamount to a rug-pull of sorts, but combi”

“Funds appear to make information for investors deliberately difficult to access. Do they? If so, why? I checked a few of the websites where ETF providers document their respective funds. If I want to know what some iShares or Xtrackers fund is actually holding I can just download some predictably structured URL . Easy. Try the same thing with (afaict, also regarded reputable) Amundi .. need to manually click through a one or more pointless prompts. Then not even a download URL on the fund websit”
